Pentax 645z First Images Boston/Salem

My first set of images from my first medium format digital camera. Posting it on here still doesn't do justice to the resolution of the images. But what is obvious is the dynamic range it allows me for my post processing. My style is very contrasty and tends to crush the blacks or whites when I shoot. I love being able to bring it back to a level that I am happy with.

There was two main challenges when I took these images. If you already know my photography, you will know that I shoot people. The images before you are of landscapes and architecture. I could say that the images of the light house has long exposure ghosting of the person(s) in the images and can be considered a portrait but that is stretching it. When I shoot people I can tell them where to go and keep changing until it suits me. I cannot tell these subjects where to be... Its all good though, I can practice composing my images.

My second challenge is time/ weather conditions. Temperatures dropped and winds picked up this week in Boston and Salem. I really only shot for a total of 2 hours (and that is being generous) the entire week. My tripod was a small fold up one that was more for convenience than functional so winds will mess up my long exposure images.

I learned a lot about my new camera, but I think I'll really understand the camera when I'm back shooting the subjects I'm more comfortable with. I'll be back to post about that when it happens, until then enjoy these.

Feel free to leave constructive criticism. This is a whole new territory for me.

Thanks,
Phong
